Robot cable for the seventh axis

What exactly is the "seventh axis - cable"? This cable is used on a robot when it is mounted on a linear axis. The usual multi-dimensional moving robot has six axes to realize its motion sequence for the application. The axis numbers start at the robot foot (Axis 1) and go to its "hand" (Axis 6). These are the axes where the robot cables are used to compensate for torsional movements. If the robot now has to travel along a production line because its work process takes longer than the cycle time available at its location, it is mounted on a linear axis. This axis is called the seventh axis and can be many metres long. The robot naturally requires energy and signals on this axis. The data must also be fed back to the control system. The robot needs something like an extension cable that can function constantly in the required linear chain. This cable is called the seventh axis cable and is very complex because there are many different signals to carry.

Cables for ABB, KUKA, and Fanuc

Each robot manufacturer uses different core/cross section combinations, depending on the different robots. These combinations are conditioned by the drive in question and the robot measuring system. A FANUC robot, for example, must of course be supplied completely differently than a KUKA robot or one from ABB. Even within each manufacturer, robot version call for different cable designs.
