Trapezoidal lead screws of the dryspin® lead screw technology
Lead screws are machine elements that are used to convert a rotational movement into a linear motion. 

The Trapezoidal lead screws and lead screw nuts from igus® are based on the principle of lubrication-free linear technology. The specifications and geometries of drylin® lead screw technology, which are tailored to the plastic nut and Trapezoidal lead screw, guarantee even longer service life and efficiency.

The trapezoidal thread corresponds in cross section to an isosceles trapezoid with an angle of 15°. The thread angle is 30°. Compared to normal threads, the Trapezoidal lead screw has a larger diameter and a larger pitch. The pitch angle is smaller than the arctangent for single start Trapezoidal lead screws. Thus, self-locking is given. Two-start lead screws, on the other hand, are not self-locking.
